- Our events may be photographed and filmed. Attending means you agree to it.
- We follow the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection, and the GDPR for visitors from the European Union.
Scope
This is the official site of Caspian Week, organised by the Greater Caspian Association in Geneva. Here you can learn about our events, register for them, subscribe to our news and write to us.
We may update, move or remove content on this site at any time.
By using the site, you accept these terms.
Privacy Policy
This section explains which personal data the site collects, why we collect it, who processes it for us, and how you can see or delete it. The Greater Caspian Association, Avenue de Champel 29, 1206 Geneva, Switzerland, is responsible for it; you can reach us at info@greater-caspian.org.
When you register for an event, we collect your name and family name, email and phone; your organisation, job title, industry, company size and job level; your nationality, country of residence and city; and your answers to the questions of the form, such as your role, the languages you speak as a volunteer or the outlet you write for. You can also add a photo for your badge and your business card. We use these details to handle your registration, prepare your badge and send you the practical information for the event.
If you speak at one of our events and add a photo when you register, we show that photo on caspianweek.org next to your name with your consent, and we remove it whenever you ask.
At our events we take photos and record the sessions. As the archive of our events, this site shows the programme with the names, titles and portraits of the speakers, selected photos, the recordings of the sessions on YouTube, and texts, chapters and quotes from the talks. If you would like something about you removed, write to us and we will take it off the site.
When you subscribe, we keep your email and the language of the site, and your name and interests if you give them. We use them to send you news from the forum and invitations to our events.
When you send us an enquiry or a message, we keep your name, your email, your organisation if you give it, and what you write. We use them to reply to you.
Our phone numbers on this site also take messages on WhatsApp, Telegram and WeChat. If you write to us there, your message also passes through that service and is handled under its own privacy terms, which can mean processing outside Switzerland, for example in the United States or China. We use what you send only to answer you.
Business cards that people hand us at our events are photographed by our team, and an AI service reads the name, organisation, job title and contact details into the association’s internal list of contacts. This list is for our own work and never appears on the site.
These services process data for us: our hosting provider, which keeps the database and files in Switzerland or the European Union; the email sending service, which delivers the emails we send you; Google, whose spreadsheet service keeps a working copy of registrations, messages and contacts for our team; and AI services, which read the photos of business cards for our internal contacts list and help us prepare public texts for the site from our own recordings and programmes.
Google and some of the AI services process data in the United States. When personal data go to a country whose data protection is not equal to that of Switzerland, we use the safeguards that Swiss law provides, such as standard contractual clauses.
Your emails and registrations never go into the AI tasks that prepare texts for the site.
We keep your data as long as the association needs it for its work, and we delete it when you ask us to.
You can ask at any time for a copy of your data, also in a common electronic format, for a correction, for its deletion, or that we limit or stop its use: write to info@greater-caspian.org.
We process personal data under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). For visitors from the European Union, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies as well.
Under the GDPR, we process your data to handle the registration you ask for, with your consent for our news and for speaker photos, and in our legitimate interest in keeping the contacts of the association and keeping this site secure. You can withdraw a consent at any time, for the future. You can also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, in the European Union, to the data protection authority of your country.
Data sent over the internet
The forms on this site send your data over an encrypted connection. The internet is open to everyone, so on its way data may pass through countries with a lower level of data protection than Switzerland, even when sender and recipient are both in Switzerland. We cannot be responsible for the security of data while it travels over the internet.
Data protection
Article 13 of the Federal Constitution of the Swiss Confederation and the Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) give every person the right to privacy and to protection against the misuse of their personal data. We follow these provisions. We treat personal data in confidence, and we neither sell it nor pass it on to anyone beyond the services named in our Privacy Policy.
Together with our hosting provider, we protect the database against outside access, loss, misuse and falsification.
The servers that run this site keep technical records of requests, such as the address requested, the date and time and the IP address, to keep the site secure and running.
We count visits to this website without cookies and without personal data: only the page, the website that linked to it and the language are kept, and visitors are counted per day with a code that changes every day and cannot identify anyone.
This site sets no cookies for visitors; your answer to the cookie notice stays in your own browser. Video previews are loaded from YouTube, a Google service, which receives your IP address when a preview is shown. The videos themselves play on youtube.com under the privacy policy of Google, and YouTube may set its own cookies there.
Liability
We take great care that the information on this site is accurate, up to date and complete, and we cannot guarantee that it always is.
We are not liable for damage of any kind that arises from access to, use or non-use of the information on this site, from misuse of the connection or from technical faults.
Links to other websites lead outside our responsibility. You use those sites at your own risk.
Texts prepared with AI
Some texts on this site, such as session summaries, chapters, topics and news, are prepared with the help of AI tools from our own recordings and programmes and from published sources. The Caspian Week editorial team decides what is published and is responsible for it. If you notice an error, write to us and we will correct it.
