On 24 July 2021, Caspian Week Conference is co-organising the annual Horasis India Meeting, co-hosted by HORASIS: the Global Visions Community and the Confederation of Indian Industries. This virtual event will be co-chaired by Murat Seitnepesov, Chairman of Caspian Week. India’s economic growth was one of the strongest in the world, averaging 7.4% until 2018/19. Growth has been weaker since the first half of 2019. The government responded to the COVID-19 pandemic with several short- and longer-term measures targeting certain sectors of the economy, as well as the rural and urban poor. Economic indicators suggest that India has put the COVID-19 shock behind it.
We hope you will join us at this year’s meeting, held virtually on Horasis’s new ground-breaking digital conferencing platform. Come prepared with any questions you might have.

Mr. Seitnepesov will chair the following three parallel sessions:
1. Indian Exploration of Trade and Investment with the Greater Caspian Region 14.15-15.00 IST (Indian Standard Time)
The Indian government is exploring trade and investment facilitation with the Greater Caspian Region to speed up exports and imports, investment strategies, medical tourism and other business projects. New accords will develop sourcing of raw materials such as oil, gas and minerals, and exchange specialist skills from India to support the development of the Greater Caspian Region. What are the opportunities and challenges facing this exploration? How will states and corporations react and develop common solutions?
Panelists:
• Claude Beglé, Chairman, Symbioswiss, Switzerland • Sham Bathija, Former Minister and Senior Advisor for Economic Affairs to the President of Afghanistan, Afghanistan • Rakesh Gaur, President, Railways, Kalpataru Power Transmission, India
2. Boosting Supply Chain Viability for Competitive Advantage 15.45-16.30 IST (Indian Standard Time)
Indian SMEs face inefficiencies in supply chains and logistics. SMEs rarely have access to foreign producers, deal with fragmented and incomplete information, and overpay for logistics. Can digitising supply help Indian SMEs cut their sourcing costs? Will secured return cargo for Indian freight forwarders lead to lower transport costs for SMEs?
Panelists:
• Stephen Edkins, Chief Executive Officer, Rice Exchange, Singapore • Ashok Saigal, Managing Director, Frontier Technologies, India • Shreekant Somany, Chairman and Managing Director, Somany Ceramics, India • Shamika Sirimanne, Director, Division on Technology and Logistics, UNCTAD, Switzerland
3. How do we detect the Next Dangerous Virus, before it's too late? 18.45-19.30 (Indian Standard Time)
India fared rather well in earlier waves of COVID infection. However, the Delta variant (and its companion, Delta +) caused havoc in the country and later across the world. Why is the world so helpless against new pandemics, even when we were supposedly working actively on them? Can we create a global system to identify and limit "Disease X"?
Panelists:
• Vesselin Popovski, Professor and Vice Dean of Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, India • Jose Ramon Calvo, President, Institute of Multidisciplinary Research, Spain • Claude Beglé, Chairman, Symbioswiss, Switzerland • Manuel Carballo, Executive Director, ICMHD, Switzerland. Thank you for your time, and we hope to see you on 24 July.
