A proposed global early-detection system for unknown pathogens

About the initiative

The project was announced on 18 March 2021. Murat Seitnepesov presented it in full at the Horasis Global Meeting on 8 June 2021. He "pointed out that today's knowledge about COVID-19 and other potential epidemics or pandemics was very fragmented". He said the project "will definitely contribute to the initiative by the World Health Organization (WHO) to create a Hub for Pandemic and Epidemic Intelligence together with the German government." A patent application for the method was filed with the Swiss and European Patent offices on 4 June. Manuel Carballo, Executive Director of ICMHD, Switzerland, and Ernesto Kahan, Scientific Director of the Galilea Institute, Israel, also spoke in the session. Carballo set out what the WHO’s involvement would and would not make possible. Kahan argued that "it is important for the society to be prepared for new pandemics, because today it is not prepared", and that the project "has to be started in small countries". The recording is on sessions and video.
