"International trade and logistics during pandemic: challenges and solutions" was a key topic at the ASAN Global Web Forum on 15 May 2020. Trade and logistics are under stress. Quarantines create operational obstacles for port terminals, carriers and customs. The economic downturn puts pressure on companies’ profitability and liquidity, and credit risks are rising. Growing medical needs call for urgent delivery of protective gear, equipment and other cargo. Azerbaijan sits at the heart of Eurasia, connecting East and West, South and North. The country is ramping up its logistics capacity for advanced trade. New terminals, railways and motorways, innovative customs procedures and other improvements make it an attractive hub for international trade. This progress also depends on efficient collaboration with international partners. The speakers discuss how these opportunities are being used now and how they can help in coping with the pandemic. Moderator: Mr. Jesse Lin, Project Specialist, World Economic Forum. Speakers on the panel were:

• Mr. Taleh Ziyadov, Director General of Baku International Sea Trade Port, Azerbaijan • Dr. Jan Hoffmann, Chief of Trade Logistics Branch, UNCTAD • Mr. Murat Seitnepesov, President of the Greater Caspian Association, Switzerland • Mr. Max EE, ITC key expert on trade logistics.
